Cupcake | Axanthic Copper Male Axolotl with Cranial Glow
Meet Cupcake, the handsome copper gentleman whose sweet name disguises a highly trained professional snack inspector.
Cupcake is a visually confirmed male axanthic copper axolotl measuring approximately 20 cm in length. His rich copper colouring, striking dark features and confident personality make him a standout addition to a carefully maintained freshwater aquarium.
One of Cupcake’s most impressive features is his cranial glow under suitable UV or blue light. During the day, he is a handsome copper fellow. Under blue lighting, he becomes the aquarium’s resident special effect.
Cupcake enjoys slowly patrolling his aquarium, inspecting every decoration and appearing at the front glass whenever someone walks past. He remains firmly convinced that every visitor has arrived carrying worms.

What Is an Axanthic Copper Axolotl?
An axanthic copper axolotl combines warm copper pigmentation with reduced yellow pigment. This can create rich bronze, chocolate, earthy brown and copper tones with distinctive darker features.
Cupcake’s axanthic genetics also give him a fascinating cranial glow under suitable UV or blue lighting. This adds another layer of visual interest to an already unusual and highly sought-after morph.
Axolotls generally prefer dim environments, so blue or UV viewing should only be brief and carefully managed. Bright lighting should never be used for extended periods or in a way that causes stress.
Cupcake supplies the glow himself. Batteries, extension cords and tiny electrician invoices are not required.
Cupcake’s Aquarium Requirements
Cupcake requires a fully cycled, cool-water freshwater aquarium with stable water conditions and suitable floor space.
His aquarium should maintain:
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: kept low through regular testing and water changes
Cool, clean and properly dechlorinated water
Gentle filtration with minimal current
Smooth hides and axolotl-safe aquarium décor
Low or subdued everyday lighting
Adequate floor space for comfortable movement
A nutritious diet of quality earthworms or suitable premium axolotl food
Axolotls must never be placed into an uncycled or incorrectly cycled aquarium. Little Lotl’s will ask a few questions about your setup before finalising the sale to help ensure Cupcake is moving into a safe and suitable home.
It is also important to use axolotl-safe aquarium products, as many general fish medications, chemicals and treatments are unsuitable for axolotls.
Individually Photographed in Australia
Every Little Lotl’s axolotl is individually photographed and listed. The axolotl shown in Cupcake’s photographs is the exact axolotl you will receive.
Photographs are taken in natural lighting wherever possible to represent his copper colouring accurately. His colour and cranial glow may appear slightly different depending on aquarium lighting, blue or UV lighting and individual screen settings.
Additional photographs or videos can be provided upon request. Cupcake is generally willing to attend photography sessions, although his appearance fee may involve worms.
