Meet our gorgeous Blue-Gilled Leucistic juvenile axolotls!
 
These fast-growing little lotls are already over 10 cm at close to 70 days old and are expected to be approximately 14 cm and around four months old when ready to leave.
 
With pale leucistic colouring and beautiful blue-toned gills, each juvenile is developing its own individual appearance. Some currently look relatively clean, while others are beginning to develop the freckles commonly known as dirty leucistic markings.
 
Colouring, freckles and gill appearance may continue to change as they mature, so a completely clean or freckled adult appearance cannot be guaranteed.

These juveniles are not ready to leave yet.
 
They are expected to be available from late September to early October 2026, once they have reached a suitable size, are feeding reliably and we are satisfied they are ready for their new homes.
Timing may change slightly depending on individual growth, health, development, weather and live-transport conditions.
 
Their welfare will always come before a dispatch date.

Shipping for up to three axolotls is:
 
$50 to eligible Metro & Major Regional VIC, NSW, QLD, SA and ACT destinations
$75 to eligible regional/non-metro VIC, NSW, QLD and SA destinations
$70 to eligible Perth metro destinations
$120 to eligible regional Western Australian destinations
 
Live axolotls are transported with Team Global Express under Little Lotl’s approved live-animal shipping arrangements.
 
Remote locations may require an individual freight quote or may not be suitable for live-animal transport.
 
Live axolotls are normally dispatched on Mondays only, subject to suitable weather, public holidays, transit times, carrier availability and animal-welfare considerations.
 
A $35 redelivery fee may apply if delivery cannot be completed.
 
Still cycling your aquarium? Your axolotl can be held by arrangement for $5 per week or part thereof until their new home is ready.

About Mum and Dad
 
Mum is the cleaner Blue-Gilled Leucistic pictured, while Dad is the dirty leucistic with distinctive freckles.
 
Both parents are interactive and regularly come to the front of the aquarium when people approach, usually because they suspect food may be involved.
 
Each juvenile will naturally develop its own appearance and temperament.
 
Clean or Dirty Leucistic?
 
A dirty leucistic is a leucistic axolotl that develops dark freckles or speckled pigmentation across the face or body.
 
A clean leucistic has fewer visible freckles and a more consistently pale appearance.
 
Some juveniles are already showing freckling while others currently appear cleaner. These markings may change as they mature.
 
Blue-toned gill colouring can also vary with age, activity, lighting, water conditions and blood flow.
 
Selecting Your Axolotl
 
This is a group preorder.
 
Unless a juvenile is separately photographed and individually listed, your preorder does not reserve one exact axolotl.
 
We will select a healthy, appropriately sized juvenile when orders are prepared.
 
You may request cleaner or more freckled markings, but preferences cannot be guaranteed because appearance is still developing and availability will vary.
 
Preparing for Your New Lotl
 
Your juvenile requires a fully cycled, cool-water aquarium with:
 
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: Ideally below 20 ppm
pH: 7.2–8.2
Temperature: 14–18°C
Properly dechlorinated water
Gentle filtration
A secure hide
Bare-bottom flooring or another age-appropriate axolotl-safe substrate
No gravel, small stones or swallowable decorations
