A tank is not biologically cycled simply because water has been sitting in it for several days.

Before introducing an axolotl, the aquarium should have an established nitrogen cycle capable of processing waste safely.

Before your axolotl comes home, aim for:

Nitrate: present but controlled
Stable, suitable pH

Cool, stable water temperature
