Custard | Hypo Golden Albino Axolotl with Cranial Glow
Meet Custard, the glowing little golden nugget with tiny dinosaur energy and a full-time commitment to snack investigations.
Custard is a beautiful hypo golden albino axolotl measuring approximately 14 cm in length. Their soft golden colouring and incredible cranial glow under blue or black light create a rare, eye-catching appearance that stands out beautifully in a carefully maintained freshwater aquarium.
Custard is currently unsexed but appears to be leaning female. Still growing and already overflowing with personality, Custard enjoys gently floating through the tank, inspecting plants with great seriousness and reacting to food as though dinner has been delayed for several business days.

What Is a Hypo Golden Albino Axolotl?
A hypo golden albino axolotl has lighter or more reduced pigmentation than a typical golden albino.
Their colouring may include pale gold, buttery yellow and creamy tones, creating a softer and more delicate appearance.
Custard’s axanthic genetics also produce a cranial glow under suitable blue or black lighting, adding another fascinating feature to this unusual morph.
Axolotls generally prefer subdued lighting, so blue or black light viewing should be brief and carefully managed to avoid causing stress.
Custard brings the magical glow of a fantasy creature while still looking permanently surprised that water is wet.
Is Custard Male or Female?
Custard is currently unsexed but appears to be leaning female.
Axolotl sex often becomes easier to confirm as the animal matures and develops clearer physical characteristics. Until then, Custard should be considered unsexed rather than guaranteed male or female.
Regardless of the final result, Custard will remain equally skilled at investigating plants, monitoring tank activity and appearing instantly whenever the worm container opens.
Custard’s Aquarium Requirements
Custard requires a fully cycled, cool-water freshwater aquarium with stable water conditions and adequate space for continued growth.
The aquarium should maintain:
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: kept low through testing and water changes
Cool, clean and properly dechlorinated water
Gentle filtration with minimal current
Smooth hides and axolotl-safe décor
Low or subdued everyday lighting
Quality earthworms or suitable premium axolotl food
Axolotls must never be placed into an uncycled or incorrectly cycled aquarium. Little Lotl’s will ask about your setup before finalising the sale to help ensure Custard is moving into a safe and suitable home.
It is also important to use axolotl-safe aquarium products, as many standard fish treatments and chemicals are unsuitable for axolotls.
Individually Photographed in Australia
Every Little Lotl’s axolotl is individually photographed. The axolotl shown in Custard’s photographs is the exact one you will receive.
Photos are taken in natural lighting wherever possible, although colouring and cranial glow may appear slightly different depending on aquarium lighting and screen settings.
Additional photographs or videos can be provided upon request. Custard may spend the session inspecting the camera to determine whether it contains snacks.
