Golly | Hypo Copper Axolotl, Possibly Male
Meet Golly, the copper-coloured snack detective with permanent curiosity and absolutely no indoor voice during feeding time.
Golly is a beautiful hypo copper axolotl measuring approximately 18–19 cm in length. His soft copper colouring, striking features and calm personality give him a clean, distinctive appearance that looks especially beautiful in planted aquariums and natural aquascapes.
Golly currently appears to be male, although his sex cannot be guaranteed with complete certainty at this stage.
Healthy, curious and well established, Golly spends much of his day slowly cruising through the aquarium like a tiny underwater submarine searching for worms, snacks or suspiciously interesting pebbles.
He has the elegant appearance of a rare aquatic display animal and the decision-making skills of someone who still believes every moving object may be edible.

What Is a Hypo Copper Axolotl?
A hypo copper axolotl displays warm copper pigmentation with lighter or more reduced colouring than a standard copper axolotl.
Their appearance may include soft bronze, peach, caramel, cinnamon and pale copper tones. This reduced pigmentation can create a cleaner and more delicate appearance while retaining the warm features associated with the copper morph.
Golly’s soft colouring looks particularly striking alongside natural aquarium plants, smooth river rocks and darker axolotl-safe hides.
He brings the polished appearance of a carefully designed aquascape while personally contributing very little to aquarium housekeeping.
Is Golly Male?
Golly currently appears likely to be male based on his visible development, but his sex cannot be guaranteed at this stage.
Axolotl sex often becomes easier to confirm as the animal matures and develops clearer physical characteristics. Until then, Golly should be considered possibly male rather than visually confirmed male.
Regardless of the final result, Golly will remain equally talented at exploring the aquarium, investigating pebbles and arriving immediately whenever the worm container opens.
Golly’s Aquarium Requirements
Golly requires a fully cycled, cool-water freshwater aquarium with stable water conditions and suitable floor space for continued growth.
His aquarium should maintain:
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: kept low through regular testing and water changes
Cool, clean and properly dechlorinated water
Gentle filtration with minimal current
Smooth hides and axolotl-safe aquarium décor
Low or subdued everyday lighting
Adequate floor space for comfortable movement
A nutritious diet of quality earthworms or suitable premium axolotl food
Axolotls must never be placed into an uncycled or incorrectly cycled aquarium. Little Lotl’s will ask a few questions about your setup before finalising the sale to help ensure Golly is moving into a safe and suitable home.
An uncycled or incorrectly cycled aquarium can expose an axolotl to toxic ammonia and nitrite, potentially causing rapid illness or long-term organ damage.
It is also important to use axolotl-safe aquarium products, as most standard fish products are unsuitable for axolotls.
Individually Photographed in Australia
Every Little Lotl’s axolotl is individually photographed and listed. The axolotl shown in Golly’s photographs is the exact axolotl you will receive.
Photographs are taken in natural lighting wherever possible to represent his soft copper colouring accurately. His appearance may still vary slightly depending on aquarium lighting and individual screen settings.
Additional photographs or videos can be provided upon request. Golly is generally willing to pose, although he may spend the session investigating whether the camera contains snacks.
