Melon is a visually confirmed male golden albino axolotl with bright golden colouring, fluffy gills and a wonderfully curious personality. He has a small cosmetic imperfection that places him in our B Grade category, but this does not affect his health, appetite or ability to become the much-loved star of his new aquarium.
 
Healthy, active and well established, Melon enjoys leisurely explorations, inspecting every corner of his tank and appearing at the front glass whenever anyone comes within suspicious proximity of the worm container.
 
He has also perfected the classic axolotl expression that says, “I have never been fed in my entire life,” even when dinner ended approximately thirty seconds ago.

What Does B Grade Mean?
 
At Little Lotl’s, B Grade refers to an axolotl with a cosmetic difference or physical imperfection that does not affect their general health, appetite or quality of life.
 
Melon receives the same experienced care, nutritious food and careful monitoring as every other Little Lotl’s axolotl.
 
His grading is purely cosmetic. It does not make him less deserving of an excellent home, and Melon certainly does not consider himself anything less than premium.
 
Perfection is overrated anyway. Personality is where the real sparkle lives.
 
What Is a Golden Albino Axolotl?
 
Golden albino axolotls have warm yellow or golden pigmentation combined with albino characteristics. Their colouring can range from pale buttery yellow to rich, vibrant gold.
They typically have pale or translucent eyes and can display beautiful reflective highlights under suitable aquarium lighting.
 
Melon’s bright golden colouring gives him a cheerful, sunny appearance, although his personality suggests he may believe he personally invented the colour gold.
 
Melon’s Aquarium Requirements
 
Melon requires a fully cycled, cool-water freshwater aquarium with stable water conditions and adequate floor space.
 
His aquarium should maintain:
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: kept low through regular testing and water changes
Cool, clean and properly dechlorinated water
Gentle filtration with minimal current
Smooth hides and axolotl-safe aquarium décor
Adequate floor space for comfortable movement
A nutritious diet of quality earthworms or suitable premium axolotl food
 
Axolotls must never be placed into an uncycled or incorrectly cycled aquarium. Little Lotl’s will ask a few questions about your setup before finalising the sale to help ensure Melon is moving into a safe and suitable home.
 
It is also important to use axolotl-safe aquarium products, as many general fish treatments and chemicals are not suitable for axolotls.

Photographs are taken in natural lighting wherever possible to represent his golden colouring accurately. His colour may still appear slightly different depending on aquarium lighting and individual screen settings.
 
Additional photographs or videos can be provided upon request. Melon is usually available for photography, although he may attempt to renegotiate the session into an early dinner.

Shipping, Holding and Delivery Costs
 
Live axolotls are shipped on Mondays, subject to suitable weather conditions and public holidays.
Standard live-axolotl shipping is $50 within Australia Post Express Post Zones 1–3.
 
Addresses outside Express Post Zones 1–3 may incur additional shipping charges. Little Lotl’s will confirm any additional cost before shipping, and all outstanding charges must be paid before dispatch.
 
Please ensure someone is available to receive Melon on the expected delivery day. If the parcel cannot be delivered and redelivery is required, a $35 redelivery fee will apply.
 
Still preparing or cycling your aquarium? Melon can be purchased and reserved until his new home is ready. A holding fee of $5 per week applies and must be paid before dispatch.
 
Shipping, holding, redelivery and any additional-zone charges are separate from the listed purchase price.
