Bananay | Hypo Golden Albino Axolotl, Possibly Female

Meet Bananay, the glowing golden beauty whose name sounds playful, but whose aquarium presence is pure main-character energy.

Bananay is a stunning hypo golden albino axolotl measuring approximately 19–20 cm in length. Her bright golden colouring, delicate features and fascinating cranial glow give her a wonderfully unusual appearance that stands out beautifully in a carefully maintained freshwater aquarium.

Bananay currently appears to be female, although her sex cannot be guaranteed at this stage.

Healthy, active and well established, Bananay enjoys inspecting the aquarium for snacks, supervising every nearby activity and sitting perfectly still while somehow remaining the centre of attention.

She does not demand the spotlight. The spotlight simply understands its responsibilities.

Bananay may be an ideal choice for axolotl enthusiasts, unusual morph collectors, freshwater aquarium hobbyists and Australian families searching for a unique aquatic companion with beautiful colouring and plenty of personality.

A hypo golden albino axolotl displays lighter or more reduced pigmentation than a typical golden albino.

Their colouring may include pale gold, buttery yellow, cream and softly glowing tones. This creates a delicate golden appearance that can change subtly depending on the aquarium lighting.

Bananay also displays a cranial glow under suitable UV or blue light, producing a luminous effect around the head that makes this unusual morph particularly eye-catching.

Axolotls generally prefer dim environments, so blue or UV viewing should be brief and carefully managed. Bright lighting should never be used for extended periods or in a way that causes stress.

Bananay provides her own glow. Batteries, charging cables and miniature aquarium electricians are not included because they are entirely unnecessary.

Is Bananay Female?

Bananay currently appears likely to be female based on her visible development, but her sex cannot be guaranteed at this stage.

Axolotl sex often becomes easier to confirm as the animal matures and develops clearer physical characteristics. Until then, Bananay should be considered possibly female rather than visually confirmed female.

Regardless of the final result, Bananay will remain equally talented at posing, exploring and materialising immediately whenever the worm container opens.

Bananay’s Aquarium Requirements

Bananay requires a fully cycled, cool-water freshwater aquarium with stable water conditions and suitable floor space.

Her aquarium should maintain:

  • Ammonia: 0 ppm

  • Nitrite: 0 ppm

  • Nitrate: kept low through regular testing and water changes

  • Cool, clean and properly dechlorinated water

  • Gentle filtration with minimal current

  • Smooth hides and axolotl-safe aquarium décor

  • Low or subdued everyday lighting

  • Adequate floor space for comfortable movement

  • A nutritious diet of quality earthworms or suitable premium axolotl food

Axolotls must never be placed into an uncycled or incorrectly cycled aquarium. Little Lotl’s will ask a few questions about your setup before finalising the sale to help ensure Bananay is moving into a safe and suitable home.

An uncycled or incorrectly cycled aquarium can expose an axolotl to dangerous ammonia and nitrite, causing serious illness or death.

It is also important to use axolotl-safe aquarium products, as many standard fish medications, chemicals and treatments are unsuitable for axolotls.

Individually Photographed in Australia

Every Little Lotl’s axolotl is individually photographed and listed. The axolotl shown in Bananay’s photographs is the exact axolotl you will receive.

Photographs are taken in natural lighting wherever possible to represent her golden colouring accurately. Her colour and cranial glow may appear slightly different depending on aquarium lighting, blue or UV lighting and individual screen settings.

Additional photographs or videos can be provided upon request. Bananay is generally happy to pose, although she may expect the photography department to provide worms and suitable refreshments.
