Give Soft Aquarium Water a Mineral Makeover

Support balanced water conditions with Little Lotl’s Axolotl GH Conditioner.

This phosphate-free powdered conditioner increases general hardness, or GH, by adding essential calcium, magnesium and trace minerals to aquarium water.

It is ideal for axolotl tanks, freshwater aquariums and homes with naturally soft or low-mineral water.

Think of it as a carefully measured mineral top-up for water that arrived feeling a little underdressed.

Why Is GH Important for Axolotls?

GH measures the amount of dissolved minerals, particularly calcium and magnesium, in aquarium water.

Suitable mineral levels can support:

  • Healthy growth and development
  • Balanced freshwater conditions
  • Stable water parameters
  • Normal biological functions
  • Long-term axolotl wellbeing

Water that is extremely soft or mineral-deficient may not provide the balanced conditions axolotls require.

Always test your water before adding GH Conditioner. More minerals are not automatically better, and your test results should guide every adjustment.

Why Choose Axolotl GH Conditioner?

  • Increases general hardness safely
  • Adds calcium, magnesium and trace minerals
  • Phosphate-free formula
  • Supports balanced aquarium water
  • Suitable for soft or low-mineral water
  • Easy-to-use powdered formula
  • Suitable for axolotl tanks
  • Suitable for freshwater aquariums
  • Useful for routine water preparation and maintenance

Directions for Use

Add:

  • 1 level teaspoon, or 5g
  • Per 10 litres of aquarium water

Dissolve the measured conditioner thoroughly before adding it to the aquarium.

Test GH before dosing, then retest after the conditioner has mixed through the water.

Adjust gradually as required. Avoid repeatedly adding conditioner without confirming the current GH level.

When Should I Use It?

Axolotl GH Conditioner may be useful when:

  • Tap water has a low GH reading
  • Rainwater or very soft water is being used
  • Aquarium mineral levels require correction
  • Preparing water for a new aquarium
  • Replacing minerals during water changes
  • Water testing shows calcium or magnesium support is needed

It should not be added simply because a water change is due. Test first, dose second and let the numbers make the decision.

Is GH the Same as KH?

No.

GH measures calcium, magnesium and other dissolved minerals.

KH measures carbonate hardness and helps resist sudden changes in pH.

An aquarium can have suitable GH but low KH, or suitable KH but low GH. Test both separately before using mineral or buffering products.

Suitable For

  • Axolotl aquariums
  • Soft-water areas
  • Low-mineral tap water
  • Freshwater aquariums
  • New aquarium preparation
  • Routine water changes
  • Australian axolotl keepers
  • Aquariums requiring gradual GH adjustment

Important Aquarium Care

GH Conditioner supports mineral balance, but it does not replace:

  • A fully cycled aquarium
  • Regular liquid water testing
  • Suitable filtration
  • Dechlorinated water
  • Stable aquarium temperature
  • Routine water changes and waste removal

Before introducing an axolotl, the aquarium should consistently test at:

  • Ammonia: 0ppm
  • Nitrite: 0ppm
  • Nitrate: within a safe and manageable range

Your test kit remains the aquarium’s tiny laboratory supervisor.
